Timesheet settings
Choose how your team records time on the mobile app, and which job lunch breaks go to.
Overview
Timesheet Settings decide how your team enters time. You can let them add time straight from the mobile timesheet screen instead of only through Start Work and Stop Work, ask for hours instead of start and end times, and ask for a note on each entry.

The settings
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Standalone Timesheet Entry On or off | If enabled, users will be able to create Timesheet entries directly from the Timesheet screen on their mobile device. Users will not have to go through the Start Work/Stop Work process to create timesheet entries. | On |
| Enable Simple Hour Entry On or off | Allow users to specify number of hours spent on standalone timesheet rather than Start and End times. | Off |
| Show 'Notes' field on Timesheet screen On or off | Allow users to provide a note or comment when creating timesheet entries. | Off |
| Timesheet Notes Mandatory On or off | Make Timesheet Notes field mandatory for users when creating a timesheet entry. | Off |
| Lunch Break Job Code Text | Job Code to be used when adding lunch breaks to users timesheets | Not set |
Each switch saves as soon as you click it, and Smartworks shows Field updated.
What changes in the apps
- Enable Standalone Timesheet Entry lets team members add time entries from the timesheet screen of the mobile app. Switched off, time is recorded only through Start Work and Stop Work on a job.
- Enable Simple Hour Entry asks for a number of hours on a standalone entry, in place of a start and end time.
- Show ‘Notes’ field on Timesheet screen adds a notes box to each entry. Timesheet Notes Mandatory then makes that box required.
- Lunch Break Job Code lists your jobs by job number and name. Pick the job that lunch breaks are recorded against, or - None -.
Step by step: change a timesheet setting
- Click Settings in the header.
- Click Timesheets under Feature.
- Click the switch beside the setting, or pick a job for Lunch Break Job Code.
