Labour codes
Choose which of your products count as labour, so time can be charged against them.
A labour code is a product you charge time as, such as a standard hourly rate. The Labour Codes page lists your products and lets you tick the ones that are labour. The codes you tick are the ones offered as a user’s Default Labour Code.

The page
The table lists your products by Code and Description, with a checkbox on each row. Click a row to tick or untick it. The checkbox at the top of the table ticks or unticks every product the list is showing.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search Products | Shows only products whose code or description contains the text. |
| Show Selected Items | Shows only the products ticked as labour codes. |
Step by step: choose your labour codes
- Click Settings in the header.
- Click Labour Codes under Products.
- Type in Search Products to find a labour product.
- Tick each product that is labour.
- Click Save Group.
Smartworks shows User Labour Codes Updated. Cancel puts the ticks back to how they were when you last saved.
Good to know
Long product lists
The table shows the first 100 matching products. When more match, the page says so. Type in Search Products to narrow the list.
Unticking a code a user has
If you untick a product that is a user’s Default Labour Code, Edit User drops it from that user the next time you save them.
